Talking about 5 of my favorite summer trends. All focus on comfort!

Yes, Yes, Yes!

I have been waiting (basically all winter) for the weather to get warm so I could jump on these Summer Trends. Don’t get me wrong, I love sweaters, boots, and beanies, but summer fashion is what I live for. There are so many different trends and styles to choose from and you actually get to be outside to show off your clothes. This past year has brought so many new styles. PLUS, the 90’s are truly making a comeback, which brings me some serious joy. It is fully acceptable to dress EXACTLY like Monica and Rachel from Friends. I’m sure we can all agree this is exciting. NOW, let’s get right into it.

1. Give me all the hair scarves :)

I have really gone full force into the hair scarf trend. They are so fun, comfortable, and versatile. You can wear them as a headband, around your ponytail, around your neck, and even tie them to your purse. With some of the bigger ones you can cover your head and tie them in the back, which will give any outfit a cute gypsy look. They can always add a pop of color and are easy to wear. It’s always fun to keep them in your purse just in case you ever want to put your hair up. It can get painfully hot wearing your hair down all the time, so, if you’re like me, your hair never stays down for long. Hair scarves are great for this problem, and you can wear them every day without anyone calling you an “outfit repeater” (Lizze Mcguire anyone?). Also, if you have bangs, they are super useful to put them back whenever you’re getting annoyed with them on your face. This tip has saved my life lately when I am in a hurry. Here are some links to my favorite places to look for hair scarves.

2. Graphic Tees for the win!

Possibly my favorite trend, ever. I feel like graphic tees never truly go out of style. However, they are really taking over this season. I personally love them because they are super comfortable and there are so many choices. You could have 20 graphic tees and they could all be completely different. Plus, each shirt can be used for tons of outfits. They can be dressed up with skirts, dressed down with jeans, worn with hats, sneakers, heels, EVEN animal print. Now, this is a new look, but animal print with a basic graphic tee just radiates sass. I will be in a t shirt at least 50% of the season.

3. Frayed Jean shorts, Bermuda Style, & Biker Shorts

These trends aren’t the most shocking, but I don’t think they should be ignored. There are so many types of jean shorts out there, but with the graphic tees being in style, I prefer the frayed look. It gives off a grunge vibe, which is always fun. Plus, a pair of frayed jean shorts can really add some pizazz to your outfit. Now, the bermuda style might be slightly less popular. The length of shorts is often completely based on personal opinion and what you think looks best on your body. However, the longer style can be fun if you are wearing a skimpier top or you just want to make a simple outfit have a little something different. LASTLY, I want to address biker shorts. I have been very reluctant to follow this trend because I wasn’t totally sure how I felt about it. However, I have decided that biker shorts can look very good with certain outfits. I think my favorites, of course, relate back to the graphic tees. The big shirts with biker shorts and some sneakers/sandals look very summery. I also really like the biker shorts for working out and hiking. I tend to wear a lot of athletic gear in the summer and the biker shorts will make those outfits look more fashionable and less like I came straight from the gym. SO, I guess I have officially hopped on the biker short boat. Now I just have to purchase a pair :)

4. Hats, Hats, Hats

Disclosure: I used to not be much of a hat gal. I randomly would find a baseball cap that looked decent on me, but honestly, a lot of times my head just looked super flat on top and it bugged me. Not sure if anyone can relate, maybe my head is just shaped weird. ANYWAY, I love the hat trend now because they can literally make any outfit look more put together. The cowboy and train conductor hats (probably not the correct terms) are my favorites. I love them because they do not sit directly on top of your head, they’re super comfortable, and can be worn multiple days in a row (just like the hair scarves). Also, as I mentioned earlier, it gets super hot in the summer with your hair down, but these hats look great with a low bun or ponytail, and they hide the fact that your hair may be just a taaad sweaty. Also, BONUS, they keep you from getting your face sunburnt. Boom.

These are a pair of my red Adidas sneakers. They have great sneakers in so many colors.

5. Colorful Sneakers

Now for the final trend of this post: colorful sneakers. Let me begin with saying; I am also obsessed with plain, white sneakers. I basically wear a pair every day. They go with everything and, if you’re on a budget, you only need one pair for about a million outfits. However, I really love making a statement with shoes. A couple years ago, red and yellow Converse were very in and I would like to bring those back. Yellow sneakers are bright and perfect for summer. They can go with all the neutral outfits, plus, pastels, and some primary colors. I’m all about easy fashion and the basics, so some colorful sneakers can just add a little somethin’ extra.

These are just a few of the trends I am excited about and wear the most. They are simple, fairly cheap, and very comfortable. Fashion is one of my favorite things, but I don’t like the saying, “beauty is pain”. NOT ALWAYS TRUE. There are so many ways to look trendy and feel good about yourself while still being comfortable and not breaking the bank. Happy Sun Season everyone!!
